What School do I go to?
Currently I go to the University of California in Irvine (UCI)
What is my major?
I am pursuing my B.A in Sociology from the school of social sciences, I
do however have my B.S in Biological Sciences also from UCI in June 2002
from the school of biological sciences.
What is it like at UCI?
The school is extremely diverse, with people coming from a wide
variety of cultural backgrounds. The campus is quite modern with the exception
of a few buildings, and there are lots of facilities for studying and doing
research. In a nutshell, UCI is a good commuter campus, but I wouldn't
recommend any coming here to just to get away from home and have fun because
there isn't much to do out here. The only good things about UCI is the
faculty (most of them!) and the close proximity to beaches. The biosci
program is well-known for its competitivness and hardcore classes, but
once you make it to your third year its free-sailing :)
What opportunities are there at UCI?
It depends on what your interests are and what your future goals are. For
me, I wanted to go to school that had access to research facilities in
the biomedical sciences, as well as it being close to my home. If your
interested in going to graduate school, medical school,
law school etc.
there are many opportunities for internships and research positions or
fellowships.
What would I change about UCI?
If
there is one thing about UCI I have to complain about it is the parking
situation we have here. I have to get up an extra hour early in the morning
just so that I can get parking in the morning, and if you don't, then you
resort to parking in the medical school which
is about a gizzilion
miles away!!
What wouldn't I change about UCI?
The diversity of the campus, the access to many facilities that can enhance
your resume or chances into getting into a good school after undergrad.
